Mental set
Mental set refers to the mental readiness a teacher brings to the classroom.
With-it-ness is a term used to describe the four behaviors attributed to a productive teacher in the classroom. These include: occupying the entire room, noticing potential problems, using a series of graduated actions and forecasting problems.
Emotional Objectivity is behaving in an emotionally objective way even if you do not feel emotionally objective. To have emotional objectivity use these six strategies; recognize that you are an emotional being, monitor your thoughts and emotions, re-frame, maintain a cool exterior, take care of yourself, prevent and recuperate from burnout.

Be Aware
It is important to be aware of what is going on in your classroom at all times!
You must know what the students are doing and be brain storming potential problems. That is one way I plan to show with-it-ness in my classroom. |
Focus on the student
As a teacher, I will leave my problems at home. when I enter the school building my mind will be focused on my students.
I will monitor my emotions and remember to keep my cool with my students. I think it is important to never yell at your students, EVER. Certain situations will call for being stern with students but keeping my cool will always be a number one goal of mine. |
